Never Again

The last few drops dribbled down my chin,
I could have saved them for tomorrow,
But instead I just gave in,
And added the final fuel to my sorrow.
My head swims in restless sleep,
My body aches from the cold,
Into the abyss I'm falling deep,
As the addiction takes its final hold.
I wake up shaking,
Frightened and ashamed,
In a horror of my own making,
And I say to myself, 'never again.'
